SENIOR ENGINEER (1 POST)

Department: Supercomputing Department

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise ZCHPC Systems Support projects
• Conduct technical and user training.
• Recommend and oversee the procurement of hardware and software for systems and users.
• Supervise the administration of the HPC Data Centre systems, including 24/7 monitoring and maintenance.
• Develop and maintain policies and procedures for equipment, staff, visitors and clients.
• Offer support to online, onsite and remote clients and assist engineers in setting up reliable connectivity.
• Participate in the design and development of network management and user account billing systems.
• Ensure system security.
• Assist with the HPC Data Centre systems design, installation and configuration.
• Supervise junior Systems Support staff.
• Provide regular reports to the Deputy Director.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Deputy Director.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor or Master of Science degree in High Performance Computing, Cloud Engineering, Computer Hardware Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Network Engineering, Information Technology, or Software Engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years of demonstrable experience, with time served at ZCHPC preferred.
• Strong communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with confidence.
• High-level analytical and innovative thinking skills.
• Previous experience in designing and implementing parallel computing and cloud systems.
• Proven ability to collaborate with scientists, engineers, and stakeholders.
• Demonstrated research capability, with a publication or innovation record in relevant areas.
