HPC for Stem Revolution

On Friday the 22nd of January 2016, the Centre hosted a HPC User Workshop for Universities Deans and Directors for Research across Zimbabwe. The workshop aimed at enlightening potential HPC Users. The incredible turn up exceeded 100 participants as representatives came from key academic institutions such as the University of Zimbabwe, National University of Science and Technology, Midlands State University, Chinhoyi University, Bindura University of Science Education, Great Zimbabwe University and Africa University to mention a few.

The Workshop was officially graced by the Honourable Deputy Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development Dr. G. Gandawa. On His Opening Remarks, he highlighted that the HPC theme for 2016 is called”HPC for STEM Revolution”. The Deputy Minister encouraged all Universities to take advantages of scientific infrastructure developments in the use of the HPC especially in drug discovery, nanotechnology, and human capacity development and to carry out massive research in all academia areas. Various presentations were made and participants expressed their willingness to take research to a better level through the use of advanced computational resources.
